Max Eberl, Joshua Kimmich talks brave, new world of the Champions League as Bayern Munich sits 23rd in the table
Bayern Munich’s consecutive losses to Aston Villa and FC Barcelona in the Champions League have some fans fretting the club’s position in the table.
Board member for sport Max Eberl is not worried about his boys being 23rd place in the Champions League table so far.
“This is exactly this new format – and it will only be decided on the 8th matchday, not on the third,”
Eberl has a point, but fans, players, coaches, and everyone else wants to see better results…and soon. Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich is not ready to give up on the situation.
“I know it’s very unlikely that we will win every game now — even though that is of course the goal. I don’t even know if it’s still possible for us to make it into the top eight. Theoretically, it’s probably still possible. We have to win every game now. We have tough opponents ahead of us. For the past six years, we walked through the group stage. We haven’t been able to do that recently. Let’s see where it takes us,” Kimmich told Bild
One other interesting note about Bayern Munich’s status is that this is the first time the team has lost three Champions League away games in a row
