Mason Greenwood released on bail after private hearing
Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood is to be released from custody after his application for bail was granted in a private hearing.
Greenwood was arrested in January 2022 on suspicion of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault, and was charged on Saturday after being re-arrested for a breach of his bail conditions.
He was initially denied bail after a Manchester Magistrates’ Court appearance on Monday, but a fresh application held in private at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court will now see Greenwood released, with conditions to not contact the complainant or any witnesses and to live at an address on Bow Green Road in Bowdon.
Greenwood was first detained in January after a woman posted allegations online that included images and videos of the aforementioned charges. He was immediately suspended by Manchester United and has not featured for the club in any capacity since his arrest.
The 21-year-old will next appear in court on Monday 21 November.
