Manchester United have made the best signing of the summer, claims Champions League winner

Manchester United have made the best signing of the summer, claims former Red Devils star Owen Hargreaves.

The 2008 Champions League winner picks out the signing of Andre Onana as the best piece of business made by any club this summer, speaking to the Premier League.

Manchester United spent £43 million to sign Onana from Inter Milan, a fee which could present a bargain for the club’s new first choice goalkeeper.

Onana replaces long-serving stopper David de Gea, who was released when his contract expired at the end of June.

Andre Onana is ‘best signing’
Owen Hargreaves told the Premier League, when asked to pick out his top signing of the summer, that Andre Onana was his clear choice.

He said: “Goalkeeper Andre Onana at Man Utd. People will be blown away by the way he plays, how good he is with his feet.

“He’s a fantastic shot-stopper as well. He’s got great size, great presence.

“He’s been very successful in the leagues that he’s played in and he’s going to become a leader.”

Andre Onana will transform United
David de Gea’s one-dimensional playing style was really beginning to hold Manchester United back. It was time to make a change.

Onana is regarded as one the best passing goalkeepers in world football, and he has worked under manager Erik ten Hag before at Ajax.

Last year Ten Hag attempted to make the best of what he had, with De Gea. This year he can really begin to implement his own playing style.

Onana does take risks, and there may be one or two hiccups along the way. But the positives will vastly outweigh the negatives, and the Cameroon international was a signing United simply had to make.
