Manchester United could consider loan signing in transfer window
Erik ten Hag admitted Manchester United could consider a loan signing amid more injury and illness setbacks.
United won their FA Cup third round tie against Wigan with 11 players absent through injury and illness as Christian Eriksen, Antony and Amad were the latest to drop out of the squad.
Ten Hag named two goalkeepers on the bench, as well as Joe Hugill and Shola Shoretire. Nineteen-year-old winger Omari Forson emerged late on to become the 249th academy graduate to debut for the United first team.
Eriksen, Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire could recover in time for the Premier League visit of Tottenham on Sunday but United are still likely to be depleted against the Premier League’s fifth-placed side.
Only three of United’s 13 wins this season have been by more than one goal and none of their wingers or striker Rasmus Hojlund got on the scoresheet at Wigan.
Hojlund is the only senior out-and-out striker available to Ten Hag as Anthony Martial has been unavailable for four weeks through illness.
Martial has been linked with a move to Fenerbahce but United are yet to receive a concrete enquiry from the Turkish side.
