Man Utd ‘very interested’ in signing £51m-£59m Barca target on loan
Manchester United are very interested in hiring the services of Barca target, Xavi Simons, on loan, as per reports in Spain.
The 21-year-old scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists for PSV Eindhoven in the 2022-23 campaign.
On the other hand, in the 2023-24 season, he proved to be hit in Germany with RB Leipzig. In all competitions, he scored 10 goals and provided 15 assists.
As per MD, Man Utd are ‘very interested’ in signing Simons on loan but they face competition from Bayern, Leipzig, Chelsea, Newcastle and particularly, Barca.
The youngster, who made it into the Netherlands squad for the Euros, prefers to join the Blaugrana and has made PSG aware of his wish.
The Catalan giants need to be clear about the financial ‘fair play’ situation before moving for the attacking midfielder, who is waiting for them.
Simons’ market value is around £51m-£59m but the Ligue 1 champions are not looking to sell him on a permanent basis.
The 11-capped international is naturally a central attacking midfielder and he has also been productive in the wide offensive positions.
United do need to improve the quality and depth of their flanks with the futures of Greenwood, Sancho and Antony up in the air.
