Man City close to finalising new Phil Foden contract
Phil Foden is close to putting pen to paper on a lucrative new long-term contract at Manchester City, 90min understands.
Foden’s future at the Etihad Stadium has never really been called into question, although his current deal has just two more years to run.
The 22-year-old’s representatives have been talking to City about new and improved terms since last summer and there’s a confidence, like there always has been, that a deal is now close to being finalised.
Sources at the club would not confirm the exact length of the agreement, but 90min has been told that Foden’s new deal will run until at least 2027 – with the England playmaker set to pocket in excess of £200,000-per-week in wages.
The multi-time Premier League winner will also have incentives in his new contract that could trigger further earnings – significantly elevating Foden’s status within the squad to being one of Pep Guardiola’s better paid players.
