Luis Enrique Isn’t Panicking Over Current Form of Kylian Mbappé
Kylian Mbappé has gone through a few matches without scoring, and there’s a discussion throughout the media about what’s wrong with the Frenchman.
The 24-year-old didn’t score in Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-1 win over Stade Rennais on Sunday, and questions over the winger rose again. Furthermore, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner missed an easy goal after beating the defender and goalkeeper.
Nonetheless, manager Luis Enrique continues to defend Mbappé and not worry about the form the superstar currently finds himself in.
“Kylian did not score, but he has been at a very high level since the start of the season,” Enrique told reporters. “He did some good things. He made passes, and he created good chances.”
“It’s true that it’s a bit strange that he didn’t score in this match, but it’s anecdotal. I remember what he brings to the team in attack and in defense.”
Mbappé didn’t have a typical summer as he was in various transfer rumors. Additionally, PSG had him training separately, leading many to believe that the Ligue 1 side would be moving on from the player.
Still, after the exit of Neymar Jr. and dealing with the rumors linking him to Real Madrid, Mbappé came out the gate scoring goals as if the offseason drama didn’t affect him. However, with an injury and lack of goals, it will be interesting to see how this bad stretch continues.
