Liverpool star admits ‘if I said no, I’d be lying’ over transfer interest after Luton draw
Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate had admitted he wouldn’t turn down the chance to leave the Reds if PSG were to come calling.
The Reds struggled on Sunday afternoon as they needed an emotionally-charged 90th minute equaliser from Luis Diaz to draw level against Luton at Kenilworth Road. And speaking to French-outlet Canal Plus after the game Konate cast doubt over his future.
The 24-year-old, who grew up in Paris, was asked if he ever imagined himself in a PSG jersey, and he responded: “If I said no, I’d be lying, but if you’re asking, is it one of my objectives? Not at all.”
The Frenchmen went on to praise PSG for their recruiting around French internationals: “PSG has made sure to recruit players who understand each other well and who play with each other for the France national team.
“Even for the people and the Parisian fans, it makes them happy. It’s what they’ve been waiting for for years, having Parisian players or at least French players in the team.”
