Liverpool leaving “no stone unturned” in search for the perfect attacking signing

Liverpool’s summer plans to sign a top attacker this summer has reportedly seen them consider a multitude of names, including Everton’s mercurial Iliman Ndiaye.

The last player to complete a transfer between Liverpool and Everton was Abel Xavier in 2002 as part of an £800,000 move from Goodison Park to Anfield.

It’s almost impossible to conceive something happening in the modern era, much less for a player as fantastic as Ndiaye is.

His six goals and three assists for the Blues last season will hardly wow those who haven’t actually watched him play. Take my word for it, however: Ndiaye is a special, special player.

Described by the Premier League X account as a ‘human highlight reel’, the Senegal international was sensational last season in Everton’s first season at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Liverpool are very keen on Bournemouth star Rayan. The teenager shone under Andoni Iraola last season, and has been very heavily linked with a move to Anfield to reunite with his Spanish coach.

The report, which also includes mention of Ndiaye, reads: “Liverpool have made enquiries over Bournemouth winger Rayan as they continue exploring long-term replacements for Mohamed Salah.”

Rayan is not the only target for Liverpool as Bailey writes: “The Reds are casting a wide net as they prepare for life after Salah and are leaving no stone unturned in their search for the right attacking addition.”

Liverpool’s “dream target remains Yan Diomande, but the highly-rated youngster has made it clear in recent weeks that his preference is to join Paris Saint-Germain, with talks between the French champions and RB Leipzig continuing.”

Regarding alternative targets, Everton’s Ndiaye is on Liverpool’s radar.

“Several names have already been linked, including Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh, Cologne’s Said El Mala, Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye,” Bailey finished.

While it remains inconceivable that a transfer circa £100m for Ndiaye would be agreed between Liverpool and Everton, but (much) stranger things have happened in football. For the time being, however, I wouldn’t place any bets on this rumour coming good.
