Lionel Messi Reached This Unreal Feat for the First Time in Three Years
Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi has continued to rack up assists with ease in Ligue 1 play this season.
Messi recorded a first-half assist in PSG’s 2-0 Ligue 1 away win over Angers on matchday 32. The Argentine forward assisted Kylian Mbappe for PSG’s second goal of the contest, and the reigning Ligue 1 champions did not look back from there, as they cruised to a third straight win in league play.
Messi’s assist against Angers was the 15th of his ongoing Ligue 1 campaign, which leads all players in France’s top flight.
Overall, the Argentine forward tallied at least 15 goals and 15 assists in a single league season for the first time since the 2019-2020 La Liga campaign with Barcelona, when he logged 25 goals and 21 assists in 33 such matches played.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner also leads Ligue 1 in goal contributions this season with 30.
Messi simply continues to bolster his already stout resume for the 2023 Ballon d’Or award.
