Both clubs have reportedly tabled bids for the Moroccan World Cup star, but Ounahi is believed to prefer a move to Naples over Leeds. However, Napoli are yet to reach an agreement, although the report suggests that they are ‘optimistic’.

The report read: “We are working for the future on Ounahi. Napoli have frequent contacts with his entourage to beat the competition from Leeds. There is still no agreement with Angers but optimism filters through, it’s always time to plan for Napoli.”

Ounahi played a crucial role in guiding Morocco to the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Morocco became the first ever African nation to reach the last four at a World Cup finals, and interest in Ounahi has increased since the tournament.

Diogo Monteiro ‘wants’ Leeds move

Servette FC centre-back Diogo Monteiro reportedly ‘wants to join’ Leeds during the January transfer window. This comes after The Athletic reported earlier this week that the Whites were ‘lining up’ a bid for the the 17-year-old.

Monteiro signed his first professional contract with Servette in June 2020, but that three-year deal is set to expire at the end of the season. According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Swiss sources suggest Monteiro is open to a move after hearing of Leeds’ interest.

He has been capped 34 times by Portugal across their various youth teams, including 10 outings for the under-16s, and a further 17 with the under-17 age group.

The teenager captained Portugal and played every minute of the tournament as they reached the semi-finals of the Under-17 European Championship last year.

The defender is the third youngest player to feature in the Swiss Super League, and has made a total of seven appearances for Servette across all competitions.
