Late drama as Eintracht Frankfurt and Dortmund share six goals in thrilling draw

January 11, 2026

Borussia Dortmund substitute Carney Chukwuemeka’s 96th-minute equaliser denied Eintracht Frankfurt victory after Mahmoud Dahoud seemed to have secured all three points for the hosts in a remarkable first Bundesliga game of 2026.

Eintracht Frankfurt 3-3 Borussia Dortmund
Goals: 0-1 Beier 10′ (assist: Ryerson), 1-1 Uzun (pen. 22′), 1-2 Nmecha 68′, 2-2 Ebnoutalib 71′ (assist: Kalimuendo), 3-2 Dahoud (90’+2), 3-3 Chukwuemeka 90’+6

Second-placed Dortmund arrived at Deutsche Bank Park having lost just once in their previous 23 league matches, while Frankfurt were looking to close the four-point gap to the top four. The hosts handed a debut to Younes Ebnoutalib, who had recently made the switch from Elversberg where he had been Bundesliga 2’s top scorer with 12 goals in 17 appearances during the first half of 2025/26.

The match began at a frenetic pace despite the wet conditions, with both sides creating early chances. Dortmund struck first in the 10th minute with a superbly crafted goal. Nico Schlotterbeck delivered a pinpoint diagonal ball to Julian Ryerson on the right wing, who controlled brilliantly before sending a sharp cross into the box. Maximilian Beier timed his run perfectly and guided a first-time finish past Kauã Santos at the near post.

Frankfurt responded well to going behind, with Can Uzun forcing a sprawling save from Kobel. The hosts were awarded a penalty in the 22nd minute when Serhou Guirassy caught Robin Koch while attempting to clear a throw-in. Uzun stepped up confidently and sent Kobel the wrong way to level the scores.
