Jarrad Branthwaite joins PSV Eindhoven on loan

July 18, 2022

Everton have confirmed defender Jarrad Branthwaite has joined PSV Eindhoven on loan for the 2022/23 season.

The 20-year-old centre back has made 13 appearances for the Toffees first team having joined from Carlisle in 2020 but has made the move to Holland in search of more regular game time.

Michael Keane, Yerry Mina, Mason Holgate and Ben Godrey are all ahead of Branthwaite in the Goodison Park pecking order, though none impressed during the 2021/22 season as Everton scarcely avoided relegation. New signing James Tarkowski is also in line for a starting XI spot.

Branthwaite told PSV’s website: “I am happy to be able to join here. PSV is a very big club, which already feels like a family during my first contact. The people make me feel welcome and the facilities are top notch. I can’t wait to get started here.

“Marcel spoke to me about the club and its history. Now that I’m here, those words fall into place. If you ask me, this is the perfect move for me.

“PSV gave me the feeling from the first moment that they really wanted me. I seize the opportunity to play for prizes and fight European duels with both hands. It’s time to show my qualities on the pitch and help the team move forward.”
