James Maddison applauds £10m Tottenham teammate’s display against Forest on Instagram

December 16, 2023

James Maddison was amongst those to applaud Ben Davies on social media after the Tottenham Hotspur defender’s display in their win over Nottingham Forest on Friday.

Spurs kept their first clean sheet in almost two months as goals from Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski in either half saw them leave the City Ground with three points.

Once again, Ben Davies started at centre-back alongside Cristian Romero. Davies has been excellent since coming into the side, reminding everyone of how reliable the Wales international is.

Postecoglou apparently loves Davies. And the Tottenham boss was full of praise for his performance against Forest on Friday night.

It seems that James Maddison was also impressed as he responded to Davies’ Instagram post following the victory against Steve Cooper’s side…

Meanwhile, he won five aerial duels – again, more than anyone else on either side. And he also managed to make six clearances and two tackles.

Davies had huge shoes to fill when he came into the side. Micky van de Ven has been a revelation for Tottenham. And his pace is seemingly unmatched within the squad. So losing van de Ven for a number of weeks was a massive blow.

It says a lot that the £10 million man has been used by every Tottenham manager he has worked under. And while he does have his limitations – and spent the majority of his career as a left-back – there is no question that he brings so much to the Spurs side.

Certainly, Tottenham’s hopes of navigating this tricky period where several players are out with injury and suspension will be boosted while Davies is playing alongside Romero.
