Inter Milan Make First Contact About Signing Genoa Breakout Star This Summer

April 18, 2024

Inter Milan have made initial contact with Genoa to sound out a possible summer transfer of forward Albert Gudmundsson.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportItalia. The broadcaster anticipate that the Nerazzurri are still only considering a move, but have clearly informed Genoa of their intent.

26-year-old Icelandic international Gudmundsson looks like a player likely to be on the move this summer.

Gudmundsson has been in outstanding form for Genoa this season.

The former AZ Alkmaar forward has scored thirteen goals and assisted a further three in Serie A over the course of the campaign so far.

Gudmundsson had joined Genoa in January of 2022. The Ligurians were relegated to Serie B in his first season at the club.

And Gudmundsson spent last season in the second division with Genoa.

But after helping the Grifone straight back up to Serie A, the Icelander has gone from strength to strength this time around.

It has not just been Gudmundsson’s goals and assists that have been key.

The 26-year-old’s dribbling and positional versatility have also been important weapons for Alberto Gilardino’s team as they have gotten a foothold in the Serie A midtable.

There is, unsurprisingly, no lack of interest in Gudmundsson’s signature for this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen. And Juventus reportedly also consider the Icelander a target, with the intention of a possible player-plus-cash deal.

However, it has been Inter who have been most strongly linked in recent weeks.

And SportItalia have confirmed that now the Nerazzurri have begun the process of seriously sounding out a move.

Inter made contact with Genoa in the last couple days.

The purpose was to sound out the feasibility of a move for Gudmundsson.

The big question naturally concerns the fee for the 26-year-old.

Genoa will not let a player who has been their star man this season go for cheap considering the interest that has arisen in signing him.
