Inter Milan Could Offer Teenage Striker + Cash For Torino & Italy Star
Inter Milan could offer Francesco Pio Esposito plus cash to Torino for defender Alessandro Buongiorno this summer.
This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews. The outlet also report that the Nerazzurri are hoping to convince the Granata of a deal involving forward Joaquin Correa.
There is no doubt that Inter see Buongiorno as a major target in defense.
The 24-year-old would have a fairly ideal profile to slot into the Nerazzurri’s backline.
Buongiorno is a tall, fast, and physical defender who possesses high-level man-marking capabilities similar to veteran Inter defenders Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi.
The Italian international also has experience playing in a back three.
Buongiorno is played almost exclusively in a back three, the system favoured by current Torino coach Ivan Juric. Therefore, there would be no need to adjust to that defensive system on the player’s part were he to join Inter.
Moreover, FCIN report, Inter would be Buongiorno’s preferred destination should he leave Torino this summer.
Inter Could Offer Pio Esposito + Cash For Alessandro Buongiorno
The main stumbling black towards Inter signing Buongiorno is no mystery. The 24-year-old is not going to be on the move for cheap this summer.
Figures around €40-45 million have emerged as far as Torino’s asking price.
The Granata know that Buongiorno is not just a target for Inter. The likes of AC Milan, Napoli, and Juventus are also fans – as are some clubs in the Premier League according to reports.
Therefore, Inter will have to consider how they could potentially make a deal for Buongiorno feasible within their budgetary constraints.
One possibility would be to lower the cash amount in a deal by also including a player going the other way.
FCIN report that teenage attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni is unlikely to be that player.
Meanwhile, forward Joaquin Correa would be one player Inter would be happy to offload.
The Argentine will be back at Inter this summer, as Marseille will not have an obligation to sign him on a permanent transfer. And Torino have shown an interest in Correa’s signature in the past.
But according to FCIN, the player who the Granata are most interested in from Inter is teenage striker Francesco Pio Esposito.
Esposito is currently on loan at Spezia this season in Serie B. And FCIN report that Torino scours have observed the 18-year-old striker.
Therefore, the outlet report, it may be Esposito who would be the likeliest makeweight in a deal for Buongiorno.
