Inter Milan Captain Hails ‘Three Big Points On Our Path In Serie A’ After Triumph Vs Juventus

February 5, 2024

Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez feels that the Nerazzurri have taken a big step by beating Juventus in Serie A.

The Argentine spoke to InterTV after the team won the Derby d’Italia by a 1-0 scoreline, via FCInterNews, emphasizing the significance of the match for the team’s season.

Inter are still a long way away from getting their hands on the Serie A title.

But this evening’s victory over Juventus did certainly feel like it was an important juncture.

The Nerazzurri are now four points clear of the Bianconeri at the top of the table.

And with the game in hand that Inter have, that feels like a real advantage. And breathing room.

Having failed to beat Juventus in the last three league meetings, Inter got a statement win this evening at the San Siro.

Even by a scoreline of just 1-0, the Nerazzurri have certainly taken a step forwards.

Inter Captain Lautaro Martinez: Win Over Juventus Three Big Points

After this evening’s match, Nerazzurri captain Martinez said that “This win means a lot because we played against a team who are just behind us.”

“It was important for our path for us to bring these three points home. To stay on the right path that we’ve been on from the beginning.”

“I’m very happy,” he added.

And as far as whether becoming Inter captain has caused something to “click” in terms of his form, Martinez said that “Having the armband is certainly one more reason.”

“It means greater responsibility,” the Argentine continued.

“I’ve always done my best for Inter,” Martinez continued. “Transmitting the values of the club to my teammates.”

“I learned many of these things as a child from my father,” he reflected.

“Then, we’ve created a brilliant group,” Martinez said.
