Imminent exit ignites double Tottenham deal with LaLiga heavyweight, and forward move could hinge on Richarlison
A high profile signing could soon see his contract ripped up that will free up a LaLiga side to conduct two deals with Tottenham, per reports.
After nine years at Real Madrid, Isco finally departed for pastures new last summer. The 30-year-old was a headline-grabbing addition for Sevilla upon signing a two-year deal, though his stint sounds like it’s already coming to a premature end.
Varying outlets have all reported Isco is poised to see his contract terminated by Sevilla. The information originally stemmed from a report by Spanish outlet Marca, and Sevilla reportedly want to end the ill-fated spell at the four-month mark.
Isco too is reportedly on board with severing ties. Sevilla currently lay inside LaLiga’s relegation zone and the manager who brought him to the club – Julen Lopetegui – was sacked in October.
Lopetegui is now at Wolves and the Sun aren’t alone in suggesting Molineux might be Isco’s next stop.
Regardless, Isco’s potential Sevilla exit could effect another English club – Tottenham.
Spurs have two players Sevilla want, though money is tight right now at the club.
However, terminating Isco’s deal will free up much needed funds and the threat of relegation could embolden their desire to spend in January.
Two Tottenham stars wanted in Seville
Mucho Deporte report Sevilla are interested in signing both Pape Matar Sarr and Bryan Gil. A deal for the latter may depend on the results of a scan that will reveal the extent of Richarlison’s hamstring injury on Wednesday.
The Brazilian picked up the issue during his country’s quarter-final defeat to Croatia at the World Cup. Antonio Conte recently confirmed Richarlison will undergo an MRI on Wednesday.
“For Richy, tomorrow he’s going to have an MRI (scan) to know very well the importance of the injury,” said Conte on Tuesday.
“After tomorrow we will see very well the time he needs to recover.”
If Richarlison is ruled out for an extended period, Spurs may be reluctant to sanction Gil’s departure.
He’s no higher than fifth in the pecking order of forwards at present. However, if Richarlison does go down, Gil will be required for the bench.
What’s more, the mid-season World Cup has ensured the fixture list post-Christmas is more congested than ever.
Mucho Deporte don’t specify whether Sevilla would pursue loan or permanent deals for Sarr and Gil. Sarr is still yet to make his senior Spurs debut after signing from Metz in August of 2021.
The Senegal midfielder was loaned back to the Ligue 1 side for the previous campaign. He’s remained in north London this time around, though hasn’t impressed enough to force his way into Conte’s plans.
If Tottenham are open to a permanent sale for Sarr, the report adds he’s valued by Spurs around the €15m (approx. £13m) mark.
Gil, meanwhile, is understood to have more than one suitor in Spain. He showed glimpses of what he’s capable of while loaned out to Valencia last season and they’re in the frame once again.
Mallorca are another in the mix, with a recent Spanish report going as far as to claim negotiations were ‘advanced’.
Again, the report did not state whether that pertained to a loan or permanent move.
