Imagine Him and Gyokeres: Arsenal Lead Race to Sign £250,000-a-week Star

July 7, 2025

Arsenal are close to securing the signing of Sporting star Viktor Gyokeres, according to reports from England – and once they get a deal over the line for the Swede, Mikel Arteta must sign one of the world’s best wingers to completely transform their attack in search of Premier League and Champions League glory.

Gyokeres would join newly-announced Martin Zubimendi at the Emirates Stadium if he was to join, as well as new recruit Kepa Arrizabalaga and an imminent move for Brentford captain Christian Norgaard in what has been a relatively busy start to the summer transfer window for the Gunners.

But despite their estimated spend of around £130million including Gyokeres, Arteta is keen on bringing in another winger to bolster his side – and although reports in recent days have touted them for a move for Chelsea wide man Noni Madueke, it’s a deal for Real Madrid star Rodrygo that they must complete instead to really take them to the next level.

Rodrygo Would Elevate Arsenal to New Levels Alongside Gyokeres

The Swedish star would massively benefit from Rodrygo’s creativity

Gabriel Martinelli has been a solid option on the left-hand side for Arsenal, though he’s not quite hit the levels that Bukayo Saka has over the past two or three seasons – and a genuine ‘world-class’ winger, as Rodrygo has been called in the past, would massively boost their prospects of winning silverware after a five-year lull.

Alongside a genuine out-and-out striker who scores goals, such as Gyokeres, it would seriously help Arteta’s men in their chase for glory. Gyokeres’ 39 goals in just 33 Primeira Liga games and eight Champions League strikes means he’s at the peak of his perils, and getting as much help as possible from wide men in terms of assists and in transition is crucial.

Rodrygo has played with various top talents in his time at Real Madrid, including Vinicius Jr, Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe to name but a few – but getting a first-team spot on his favoured left-wing could well be enough to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal ‘in Pole Position’ to Sign Rodrygo From Real Madrid
The Los Blancos star could ask to leave in the next two weeks

Arsenal are leading the race to sign the Los Blancos’ Brazilian winger, with Gunners chief Andrea Berta in ‘pole position’ to land his services after losing his spot to Arda Guler in the latter stages of last season.

Rodyrgo is likely to communicate his desire to leave Real after the Club World Cup, in which they have reached the semi-finals, and will look to sort out his future after the tournament comes to a close.

Arsenal may have to pay as much as £75million to sign the 24-year-old this summer, which is a lot of money, but for a player who has 270 appearances for Real Madrid with 68 goals to boot, it’s not overly expensive as such despite the report stating he earns £250,000-per-week.

A further 33 caps for Brazil means that Rodrygo is clearly favoured by his nation, where former Real boss Carlo Ancelotti will take over for their upcoming fixtures for the 2026 World Cup – and that experience could be crucial for Arsenal if they sign him on a four or five-year deal.
