Hull City still have alternative options in bid to move fringe players on

The Tigers brought in six and said farewell to two on deadline day

Hull City ended the summer transfer window emphatically with a flurry of new additions arriving at the club.

A total of six new signings were confirmed on deadline day, taking City’s tally of incomings across the summer to 18.

It means Sergej Jakirovic’s squad is stacked with talent, potential and options and the head coach might have a few headaches to contend with by the time he selects his team to take on Aston Villa.

The Tigers saw two players leave the club on deadline day with Cody Drameh going to Genoa, while Liam Millar made the loan switch to Birmingham City on loan until the end of the season.

They were hoping to see more departures though, with the likes of Kieran Dowell, Matty Jacob, Abdus Omur and David Akintola all deemed to be somewhat surplus to requirements.

Ultimately, the deadline passed on Tuesday night with those four names and others remaining in East Yorkshire. However, that only means they won’t be making a switch domestically and City will now be exploring the possibility of securing deals in other markets.

Notably, the Turkish transfer window doesn’t close until midnight on Friday, September 4. And, with Omur and Akintola attracting interest from Super Lig clubs, the hope is that deals will be able to be secured for the pair by then.

The Scottish market is another City could look to use in order to prevent having to de-register the likes of Jacob and Dowell, who look unlikely to make Jakirovic’s 25-man squad. Dowell is well known north of the border having spent time at Rangers and a move back to the Scottish Premiership remains a possibility until their window shuts on Thursday, September 3, at 5pm.
