How PSG Believes Mbappé Can Stay Despite Real Madrid Rumors

Paris Saint-Germain is gearing up for a pivotal season as they aim to convince their star forward, Kylian Mbappé, to reconsider his future with the club. The 24-year-old opted not to trigger the option to extend his contract until 2025.

As a result, the Frenchman is playing on an expiring contract. So, what’s the end game here? Real Madrid wants the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner to walk to free agency. However, PSG has other plans.

L’Equipe reports that The higher echelons at PSG firmly believe that a strong performance in the UEFA Champions League and significant squad improvements this summer could be crucial in persuading Mbappé to extend his contract.

The club’s hierarchy knows that retaining Mbappé will not be straightforward. Competition from European giants like Real Madrid adds complexity to the negotiations. 

Nonetheless, the Ligue 1 giants remain undeterred. They see the current period of relative calm in Mbappé’s contract situation as an opportune moment to initiate talks. Nasser Al-Khelaifi, PSG’s president, is personally invested in securing Mbappé’s future at the club. 

The French club’s strategy is clear: capitalize on the positive relations with Mbappé and his representatives to open discussions about a contract extension. 

Despite the expected challenges in negotiations, PSG believes their commitment to winning titles and building a solid team will convince Mbappé to stay.
