How much money Jamie Vardy earned per week when Leicester City won the Premier League
Leicester City surprised the footballing globe when they were triumphant in the 2015-16 Premier League season, and they were led from the front by an absolute workhorse in the form of Jamie Vardy.
The Sheffield-born Foxes legend netted 24 goals that season as Claudio Ranieri’s side stunned the footballing world to lift the top-flight trophy, but how much was he getting paid in the process?
As per Capology estimates, his apparent 15/16 salary now provides a useful reference point when looking at how much he went on to earn at the King Power, and even what he’s getting in Italy at Cremonese now.
Using Capology estimates for Leicester City’s 2015/16 squad, Jamie Vardy is listed on a weekly wage of £70,000, making him the Foxes’ top earner during that historic campaign by £25,000-per week.
When compared to others on the list, it is a fair bit more. Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante were estimated to be on £45,000-per week and £40,000-per week respectively. In truth, the Algerian’s weekly wage was joint-second-highest to Vardy’s.
That dynamic obviously didn’t last long, with both Mahrez and Kante eventually earning huge moves to Manchester City and Chelsea, but the aforementioned list shows how Leicester’s wage structure then pretty much revolved around Vardy.
