‘He’s very clever’: Hwang Hee-chan seriously impressed by ‘amazing’ Wolves man this season

October 9, 2023

Hwang Hee-chan has praised Gary O’Neil after Wolves played out a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa on Sunday.

Wanderers took a point against their Midlands rivals, which many would have taken before the game.

Wolves took the lead through Hwang, who scored his fifth Premier League goal of the season.

Sadly, Wolves couldn’t hold onto the lead.

Within a minute, Pau Torres scored an equaliser for the visitors.

It was a positive result all things considered. Yes Wolves did take the lead and it was disappointing to conceded immediately after.

But Villa have been going really well under Unai Emery, whom O’Neil clashed with at full-time yesterday.

A four-point haul against Manchester City and Aston Villa is good – and Hwang has praised O’Neil…

Hwang Hee-chan praises Wolves manager Gary O’Neil
Goalscorer Hwang spoke yesterday after scoring his fifth goal of the season in the Premier League.

It’s clear that he is loving life under O’Neil.

He said: “The first few games we didn’t win, but we played so well against Manchester United and Brighton also.

“Finally we won, and then against Man City the game was so important and for fans it was very meaningful.

“We’re playing better every game and we trust our gaffer.

“He’s very clever. Just amazing. He’s very calm and we 100 per cent trust him. We follow him and if we follow well, we can keep getting better.”

Good signs under O’Neil
It seems as though things are starting to fall into place under O’Neil.

It was always going to be a tough start with Julen Lopetegui walking out just days before the new campaign.

And then a handful of new players coming to the club.

But eight points from eight games is a haul many would probably have taken looking at the fixture list.
