Harry Redknapp and Paul Merson disagree on Tottenham vs Wolves prediction amid huge injury claim
Latest Tottenham news with pundits disagreeing on the outcome of Wolves vs Spurs on Saturday lunchtime in the Premier League
Tottenham will be hoping to bounce back from their first Premier League defeat of the season at the hands of Chelsea when they face Wolves on Saturday. Spurs were beaten 4-1 by their London rivals, although that was perhaps not the worst outcome of the evening with Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie sent off, while James Maddison and Micky van de Ven are unlikely to be seen again before 2024 due to injury.
That means Ange Postecoglou will have to make at least four changes to his favoured starting XI with three of those coming in defence. Ben Davies, Eric Dier and Ashley Phillips are the expected options to choose from at centre-back, while Emerson Royal coming in for Udogie seems likely.
Replacing Maddison however, is a much bigger dilemma with a number of options for Postecoglou. Dejan Kulusevski could move centrally into the role, while Rodrigo Bentancur could make his first start in nine months. Alternatively, Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma could each play further forward or Giovani Lo Celso comes straight in as a direct replacement.
Understandably, given the predicament the Lilywhites find themselves in, predictions for the clash sway toward a win for Wolves, however Paul Merson and former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp have gone for different outcomes. “This one is a very interesting game,” Merson wrote in his Sportskeeda predictions column. “I’ll be shocked if Tottenham, with their injuries and suspensions, beat Wolves on Saturday.
