Harry Kane makes transfer preference clear as Man Utd encounter fresh Tottenham setback

May 31, 2023

Harry Kane could leave Tottenham this summer, with a number of clubs interested in his services, but Daniel Levy is desperate for the England captain to stay put

Harry Kane only has eyes for Manchester United if he decides to leave Tottenham this summer.

Spurs striker Kane has been heavily linked with a move away this summer, with the England captain’s current contract due to expire in 2024. Despite Tottenham finishing eighth this season and missing out on a spot in Europe, Kane was once again prolific as he netted 30 Premier League goals in 38 appearances.

As a result, Kane has attracted interest from the likes of United and Bayern Munich, with both clubs looking to sign a new striker this summer. Bayern have not replaced Robert Lewandowski after selling him to Barcelona, while United boss Erik ten Hag is keen to ease the goalscoring burden on Marcus Rashford.

And according to the Sun, Kane has decided that United is the only club he is willing to join this summer. The 29-year-old has scored a whopping 213 Premier League goals in his career so far and the report states that he does not want to move abroad while he is just 47 goals behind Alan Shearer’s all-time record.

As a result, it is claimed Kane has ‘no interest’ in a move to Bayern and Newcastle are ‘not in a position’ to spend over £100m on him despite their newfound wealth and Champions League qualification.

However, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is desperate not to sell Kane to a Premier League rival and the forward could ultimately leave on a free transfer next summer. Speaking after Spurs ended their season with a 4-1 win over Leeds, Kane was non-committal about his future at the club.

“We have had to show fight in some moments. A club this size should not be finishing eighth and we need to go away, enjoy a break and look how we can improve.

“It is part and parcel of being a footballer [transfer speculation] especially when you are at the top of your game. I have focused on this season and helping the team as much as possible. I am just looking forward to a nice break and some games with England.”
