August 2, 2024

The preseason tour to the United States of America is helping FC Barcelona in a lot of ways. Primarily, it allows the Catalan club to generate some much-needed revenue while also helping to enhance the Barça brand overseas. However, even from a sporting perspective, it is crucial for Barcelona.

Hansi Flick has arrived this summer as the new head coach of the team, replacing Xavi Hernandez. While the German technician certainly arrives with a very impressive resume, it is important for any top-level coach to get some time to understand the dynamics of his squad and to sort out his best team.

While many youngsters have started to impress during this preseason tour, such as the free-scoring Pablo Torre, there are others who are gaining a lot of momentum too. In fact, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Pau Victor’s Man of the Match performance against Manchester City has given him a massive boost.

For the 22-year-old striker, it is no longer a dream to be a regular part of the Barcelona first team. He is reportedly now seen as a great contender to be Flick’s second-choice striker behind Robert Lewandowski. His recent displays, coupled with his excellent performance for Barcelona Atletic last season, are really helping him out in this regard.

Even for the player himself, he has belief in himself to earn Flick’s trust enough to be given chances with the first team:

“I trust myself, these are decisions that don’t depend on me, but I think I can stay. Flick asks us to be aggressive, to press, to have confidence. Barça is the best place where I can grow.”

So far the first signing of the summer for Barcelona, who purchased him from Girona for a fee reportedly under the €3 million mark, Victor has shown himself to be more than an excellent purchase. Time will tell how much he can grow this season, but early signs are pointing towards something spectacular already.
