Gomis: Salernitana midfielder hospitalised after being taken ill at home
Attacking midfielder Iron Gomis, currently on loan at Salernitana, was concerningly taken ill and then taken to hospital by ambulance on Tuesday evening, according to multiple outlets in Italy.
La Gazzetta dello Sport confirm that Gomis’s partner rang the emergency services from their home in Salerno. Salernitana have since confirmed that the player is in hospital and under observation. He is awaiting further medical examinations.
Doctors at the Ruggi hospital in Salerno are also said to be in ‘constant’ contact with the medical staff of the football club.
The 24-year-old attacking midfielder joined Salernitana on loan from Turkish Super Lig side Kasimpasa SK in February.
Salernitana did not have an obligation to buy clause as part of their deal for Gomis.
He has since made five appearances in Serie A, all of which have come from the substitutes’ bench, including for around 15 minutes in the most recent league game against Frosinone.
