May 16, 2025

Barcelona midfielder Gavi had an eventuful night after coming on as a substitute against Espanyol at the Catalans won La Liga at the RCDE Stadium.

The visitors’ celebrations on the pitch after the game were cut short when Espanyol turned on the sprinklers, but Gavi gave a great response when asked about it afterwards.

“There’ll be time to celebrate wherever we are,” he told reporters.

“The coach didn’t want us to celebrate there, but oh well. It’s no big deal.

“We celebrated a little. I don’t think the sprinklers are bad. Quite the opposite. I liked it more. We were able to celebrate better that way, so… good.”

Barceona went on to party in the dressing room and then headed home to celebrate some more with the fans.

Gavi then even got stuck in his car with Lamine Yamal in the passenger seat when fans spotted them trying to leave the Ciutat Esportiva.

The celebrations will continue over the weekend, with Barcelona set to be handed the trophy on Sunday after their La Liga clash with Villarreal at Montjuic.
