Fulham nearing agreement with Wolfsburg over Kevin Mbabu deal
Fulham are nearing an agreement with Wolfsburg over a deal for Kevin Mbabu, 90min understands.
The Cottagers have been on the lookout for a new right-back ever since their promotion back to the Premier League was confirmed.
As reported by 90min, Neco Williams – who impressed on loan at Craven Cottage last summer – was one of their top targets, but he has now joined Nottingham Forest.
With their pursuit of Williams over, Fulham are pushing ahead with trying to sign Mbabu. The two clubs have been in negotiations for some time and things are progressing. However, contrary to reports elsewhere, a deal has not yet been agreed.
Sources have indicated to 90min that Fulham’s latest offer is worth £5m but Wolfsburg are looking for £6m. Although further negotiation is required, the Cottagers are confident of reaching an agreement soon. 90min also understands that personal terms will not be an issue.
Fulham have completed two summer transfers so far – signing Joao Palhinha from Sporting CP and Andreas Pereira from Man Utd – but that should change soon. As well as nearing a deal for Mbabu, the club are also in talks to sign Bernd Leno and Issa Diop.
A season-long loan deal for Manor Solomon has also been struck with Shakhtar Donetsk, though confirmation has been delayed by visa issues.
