Foxes move off bottom of Premier League table

October 21, 2022

Leicester continued their revival and plunged Leeds into further trouble with a 2-0 win on Thursday night at the King Power Stadium.

A poor attempted intervention from Robin Koch ended up with the ball limping past Illan Meslier for the opener before Harvey Barnes sealed the points, finishing wonderfully after excellent build-up play involving Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jamie Vardy

A long range Luis Sinisterra effort thundered back off the bar but while Leeds piled on the pressure in the second half, no way back into the game presented itself as Jesse Marsch’s side fell to a fourth defeat in five games.

United’s poor form is cause for concern, even if they still sit above their opponents from Thursday night.

A second win in four games has helped Brendan Rodgers lift Leicester off the bottom of the Premier League table. They’re up to 19th, though the likes of Wolves, Aston Villa and Everton are tightly packed together.

Without the suspended James Maddison, Rodgers turned to Belgium international Dennis Praet and was paid back with an excellent performance as he combined well with Timothy Castagne and Youri Tielemans.

Marsch, on the other hand, has to pick his players up from their latest defeat for their Elland Road clash with Fulham on Sunday. Leicester visit Wolves on the same day.
