Fan charged with assaulting Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale in North London derby
On Tuesday, police charged a 35-year-old man with assault after Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was attacked at the end of his team’s 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in a tense North London derby.
According to the Metropolitan Police, Joseph Watts was charged with “assault by beating, going onto an area adjacent to the playing area, and throwing a missile onto a football playing area.”
On Tuesday, a new video, shown on Sky Sports television, emerged showing a man climbing back through the crowd after kicking Ramsdale in the back from a pitchside advertising board.
Before leaving the stadium, he removed the scarf that had been covering his face.
Tottenham said on Sunday that they were outraged by the fan’s actions.
“The club has reviewed its CCTV footage to identify the supporter and will be working with the Met Police, Arsenal, and Aaron Ramsdale to take the strongest possible action,” they said.
