Ex-Barcelona Trainer Reacts to Arnau Ténas Impressive Ligue 1 Debut at PSG
Arnau Ténas had an unusual Ligue 1 debut for Paris Saint-Germain. The youngster had to jump into action after Gianluigi Donnarumma received a red card less than 10 minutes into the game.
Despite not preparing to be the starter, Ténas impressed coming off the bench. Ténas made seven saves for PSG, keeping the clean sheet and denying the chances that Le Havre were generating.
Furthermore, Ténas will start his first game for PSG when FC Nantes travels to the Parc des Princes on Saturday.
Ex-Barcelona trainer: Arnau Ténas has impressive character to be a goalkeeper
Former FC Barcelona trainer Aureli Altimira spoke with RMC Sport to give a better profile on the 22-year-old goalkeeper. Altimira shared his thoughts on what he saw from the young shot-stopper in his debut.
“We saw the match, and it was certain that he would respond to the challenge because he is a goalkeeper with qualities,” Altimira told the French media outlet. “And above all, an impressive character to be a goalkeeper… I am convinced that if he plays and he has continuity, it will obviously be difficult because he has very big international goalkeepers as competitors.
“However, if he has to play, the suit will not be too big for him. Additionally, the PSG coach likes goalkeepers like Arnau, who can play with their feet. PSG lovers, don’t worry; Arnau will face this challenge without any difficulty.”
It will be interesting to see what manager Luis Enrique does heading into the must-win match against Borussia Dortmund.
Does the manager decide to go with Donnarumma, who wouldn’t have played in two games outside of those first few minutes before receiving a red card, or go with an in-form Ténas, especially if he impresses against Nantes?
