Eric Garcia expected to play vs Barcelona, does not have prevention clause in contract
Barcelona bid a host of fringe players farewell this summer, with Barcelona urgently needing adjustments to comply with Financial Fair Play and the squad saturated with growing personnel.
However, instead of selling youngsters outright on a permanent transfer, many were loaned to Spanish sides in La Liga.
Eric Garcia was one of the players who hit the exit door late in the transfer window in light of the increased competition within the squad.
The 22-year-old joined Girona on a season-long loan with aspirations of finding regular game time and continuing his development.
Garcia will play against Barcelona
Previously, reports began to do the rounds that the Catalan giants had inserted a fear clause on Eric Garcia, a condition that disallows the club’s loanees to face off against them.
With Barça having used this method in the past, Garcia was reportedly facing a similar path.
However, according to Nil Solà, there is no clause for Eric Garcia that states he cannot play against Barça. He will in fact be available to lock horns against his original club.
When do Girona and Barcelona play each other?
Girona, who are currently third in La Liga, have enjoyed a stellar start to the season and will be sure to pose a threat to Barcelona.
The Spanish sides will face off against each other on December 10th, initially at the Catalans’ home stadium, while the second fixture will be played on May 5th next year.
Eric Garcia, given that he is available to play against Barcelona, would be expected to feature in both games as long as he is fit.
The defender has been a mainstay for Michel and will be looking to prove himself to Barcelona in both games.
