Emil Krafth signs one-year contract extension at Newcastle

July 26, 2022

Emil Krafth has signed a new deal with Newcastle, keeping the defender at St James’ Park until 2024.

The Swede’s contract was originally due to expire next summer but will now stay and add to the 62 appearances he has made for the Magpies since joining in 2019.

Krafth told NUFC TV: “I’m very, very happy to extend my contract here – me and my family love to live here – and continue with the journey we started with the club. I’m really looking forward to the future at the club.”

Head coach Eddie Howe added: “I’m very pleased Emil has extended his stay with us. He made an excellent contribution to the team last season and he continues to add valuable strength to us.”

Krafth performed well during the final few weeks of last season, with Newcastle winning five of the seven games Krafth started in during April and May. January signing Kieran Trippier’s injury paved the way for Krafth to start before he recovered late in the campaign.
