Dortmund to try for new Bellingham contract
Borussia Dortmund will try to convince Jude Bellingham to sign a new contract with the club, according to sporting director Sebastian Kehl.
The 19-year-old midfielder has been one of the greatest sensations in world football ever since he joined the Bundesliga side from Birmingham City back in the summer of 2020, establishing himself as one of the best players in the German top flight and a regular England international. A host of top clubs, led by Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester City, are reportedly pushing hard to acquire his services at the end of the season, so his future at this point remains undecided. His current contract with Dortmund runs until 2025, with no release clause, and Dortmund are said to be looking for a fee of €150million to let him go this year.
“I’m going to try to extend his contract, yes,” Kehl told German outlet ZDF. “We still haven’t spoken to Jude or his family, the player is calm and focused on football.”
