Di Marzio: Milan ponder investment in teenage Augsburg centre-back

AC Milan are pondering a late move for Augsburg defender Noahkai Banks, according to a report this morning.
With Massimiliano Allegri seemingly determined to continue playing three centre-backs, there has been talk of another player arriving to ensure there are five options for the position, in addition to Matteo Gabbia, Strahinja Pavlovic, Fikayo Tomori and Koni De Winter.
It looked as though Joe Gomez might arrive from Liverpool to become that additional option. However, things seem to have hit the brakes because the Reds are struggling to sign Marc Guehi as a replacement.
A younger option?
Gianluca Di Marzio confirms that Milan are looking for a defensive reinforcement. The Rossoneri are considering investing in Noahkai Banks of Augsburg, who would be more of a name for the future like Zachary Athekame.
The American defender played 20 games across the Bundesliga and the German Cup last season, providing one assist. At 18 years of age he is considered a real talent for the future, and Milan have shown a willingness to invest in such players.
Banks has been a part of Augsburg’s youth set-up since 2015, making his way up to the senior squad. He has also made four appearances for the USA’s U20 side, and is on the radar of the senior national team.
