DFB confirms three match ban for Volland

September 8, 2023

The German FA confirmed a three-match-ban for 1. FC Union Berlin forward Kevin Volland following his sending off in last Sunday’s loss to RB Leipzig.

Newly-acquired German attacker Kevin Volland of 1. FC Union Berlin will have to serve a three-match-ban after being sent off on double-yellows during the most recent league loss to RB Leipzig. The 31-year-old will be ineligible for Union’s next three league fixtures against VfL Wolfsburg, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, and 1. FC Heidenheim.

Volland may return to the Bundesliga pitch in time for the matchday seven encounter against Borussia Dortmund on October 7th. He remains available to FC Union trainer Urs Fischer for the team’s opening 2023/24 Champions’ League match against Real Madrid on September 20th. Volland saw his second yellow after a clumsy tackle on RB’s Mohamed Simakan during Sunday’s loss.
