David Alaba could play some minutes vs Las Palmas — report

January 18, 2025

Reports MARCA.

According to a report from MARCA, David Alaba is training every day and could play in Real Madrid’s first home league game of 2025 against Las Palmas on Saturday.

Alaba was due to feature at some point in January, and it seems like the match against Las Palmas would be the time that Carlo Ancelotti lets him on the pitch for a few minutes.

He will obviously be eased in, so expecting him to start would be foolish. However, having Alaba slowly play more minutes could be huge for Real Madrid, who are already short at the centre-back spot.

Alaba last played on December 17, 2023, when he tore his ACL against Villarreal, making it 13 months since his last professional match.

According to the report, Ancelotti designed the training session on Friday to test Alaba’s match fitness. Alaba has slowly increased his output in training, and it is not ruled out that he will feature against the team from the Canary Islands.
