Christoph Freund can already see Vincent Kompany’s excitement, energy at Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich’s preseason preparations are officially underway and new manager Vincent Kompany already has a few unofficial training sessions under his belt at the helm of the Rekordmeister. It marks the start of a new era for the club, trying to quickly erase the disappointment of having gone without any silverware last season for the first time in over a decade. Kompany has a lot of pressure of him to right the wrongs of last season under Thomas Tuchel, but that pressure is not something that phases the Belgian in the slightest.

He still has to wait a little while for all of Bayern’s international players to return from duties with their nations and getting some extended time off, but Kompany is already making a positive impression on the grounds of Sabener Straße. Sporting director Christoph Freund recently spoke about what he has already seen and felt off of the Belgian manager thus far in his short time at the training grounds thus far.

“I can sense his excitement. He exudes energy and can’t wait to be out on the pitch with the guys. He was here last week and is looking forward to getting going, just like all of us,” Freund explained in anticipation for Bayern’s preseason to really kick off and get going. It is now officially underway with all of the players not on international duty during the summer having reported back, but Bayern still has a solid week before the Tegernsee camp will start, during which they are set to have a friendly against FC Rottach-Egern.
