Chelsea to rival Man Utd for ‘next Endrick’ despite Todd Boehly’s ominous £100m warning
Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is reportedly set to rival Manchester United for the signing of teenage Palmeiras forward Thalys, who has already been dubbed the ‘next Endrick’. The Blues have been the Premier League’s busiest club in terms of recruitment over the last few years, with many of their new arrivals boasting huge potential for the future.
Chelsea are set to maintain their strategy of snapping up the best young talent by targeting a summer move for Thalys, according to Calciomercato. The forward is described as the ‘new Endrick’ in a nod to his Palmeiras team-mate, who is set to join Real Madrid later this year and is widely regarded as one of the hottest prospects in world football.
Thalys is yet to make his first-team debut for Palmeiras but scored four goals in nine appearances at Brazil’s most important youth tournament, the Copa Sao Paulo, last month. Chelsea are not the only club with an interest in his signature, with the likes of United, Juventus, Barcelona and Manchester City also thought to be keeping tabs on his development.
The 18-year-old remains tied down to Palmeiras until the summer of 2026, meaning they are under no immediate pressure to sell if their demands are not met. He is valued at around £34m by his current employers, with any successful move unlikely to come on the cheap.
