Chelsea receive £19m bid for ‘incredible’ player from Champions League side, he’s agreed to join them
Chelsea have now received a second bid from AC Milan for Christian Pulisic as the Italian giants step up their pursuit of the American.
That is according to The Athletic.
So, what is the latest on Christian Pulisic at Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the United States international was the subject of a €14m (£12m) bid from AC Milan earlier this week.
Chelsea – quite rightly – felt that was too low for Pulisic, who Jose Enrique called an “incredible” player on Instagram.
Now – however – AC Milan have increased their offer to €22million (£18.9m) as the Champions League outfit look to secure the Chelsea No.10’s signature.
Chelsea are hoping to receive a sum in the region of €25m (£21m) for Pulisic – which is what Lyon offered for the attacker a few days ago.
However, Pulisic is not too keen on a move to France, and is hoping for Chelsea to find an agreement with AC Milan – The Athletic add that he already has an agreement in place with the Serie A side.
Therefore, it is now up to those at the San Siro to strike a deal with the Blues, which will then allow the 24-year-old to travel to Milan for a medical, where he is set to team up with Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Olivier Giroud and Fikayo Tomori.
Pulisic only has 12 months remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge, and the Evening Standard believe he is very frustrated in west London after a disappointing 2022/23 campaign which saw him make just eight starts in the Premier League.
Chelsea accept huge loss on Pulisic
It is safe to say that the signing of Pulisic was a very poor bit of business for Chelsea.
Eyebrows were raised in the first place when the Blues spent £58m on the man nicknamed Captain America, after he scored just 19 goals in 127 appearances for Borussia Dortmund.
Now – after 26 goals in 145 outings for Chelsea – it seems those at Stamford Bridge are prepared to accept a £37m loss on the American, which is a heavy financial blow.
Nevertheless, it is important to get Pulisic’s £150,000-a-week wages off the salary bill this summer given his status as a fringe player, so hopefully, AC Milan and Chelsea can find an agreement soon.
