Chelsea complete signing of Jamaican international Dujuan Richards
Chelsea has confirmed the acquisition of Dujuan ‘Whisper’ Richards, the rising Jamaica international star.
Following his 18th birthday next season, the prolific 17-year-old goalscorer will join the ranks of the English club.
Richards, hailed for his outstanding performance at the youth level, was granted his senior international debut earlier this year in a match against Trinidad & Tobago. Richards has been chosen to represent Jamaica in the impending Gold Cup.
Despite having English roots through his grandmother and being eligible to represent England, Richards has shown commitment to his birth nation of Jamaica.
Born and raised in Port Royal, Richards has honed his skills at the Phoenix Allstars Football Academy since the age of 11, transforming from a promising youth into a full international.
At the 2022 Manning Cup, an under-19 competition, he amassed an impressive tally of 31 goals and 19 assists.
Sporting talent seems to run in the Richards family, with Dujuan not being the only one to have carved out a professional career in sports.
His uncle, Nick Richards, has made a name for himself playing basketball in the NBA for the Charlotte Hornets.
Dujuan’s father, Odile, too was involved in the basketball scene in Jamaica.
Adding to the family’s athletic legacy, his other uncle, O’Neil, has represented Jamaica on the cricket pitch.
