Champions League rule change and Leandro Trossard frustrated amid transfer bid
The first pause in the Premier League season has arrived but that does not mean things have slowed down at Arsenal.
After a dramatic transfer deadline day, Raheem Sterling has started work at London Colney and will be keen to embed himself into being a Gunners star after joining on loan from Chelsea. The winger will have the opportunity to get to grips with life in north London while many of his teammates join up with their international sides for the next week or so.
Arsenal will eagerly await an update on Mikel Merino after he was injured before being able to play a minute for his new team. With the transfer window not closing everywhere in the world on Friday, Leandro Trossard has fielded some interest too.
Champions League rule change
UEFA have lowered the price clubs are allowed to charge for away fans’ tickets in the Champions League. The governing body has decided that tickets will cost no more than £50 moving forwards, having previously been barred at £59.
Next season will caps be reduced even further to £42. The competition sees teams play an additional away match after its change in format, and the cap has changed for the first time since 2019.
“Today’s decision marks another key step in reaffirming UEFA’s commitment to enhancing the matchday experience for all fans,” said UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin. “By introducing more fan-friendly policies, we continue our mission to keep football as an inclusive sport where supporters who travel across Europe to follow their teams are valued and recognised.”
