Carlo Ancelotti confirms Alvaro Rodriguez will join first team next season
Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that Alvaro Rodriguez will join his first-team squad next season.
The 18-year-old forward scored a late equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid on Saturday.
The Italian manager confirmed after the game that he has been impressed with the teenager and will integrate him into the first team next season.
He said: “Alvaro has shown all his quality in the little he has played.
“For next season, he will be in the first-team squad.
“Formidable with his head and he handles the ball well.
“The idea is that he will be on the first team next season and I will manage with Raul what he will play at the end of this season.”
The Uruguay under-20 international, joined Real Madrid Castilla from Girona in the summer of 2020.
Alvaro has made 16 appearances in the Primer Federacion this season, scoring five goals in that time.
He made his La Liga debut during the 2-0 away win over Osasuna last week, and his cameo against Atletico was only his second La Liga appearance.
Real Madrid are next in action against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semi-final on March 2.
