BREAKING: Sundowns To Face Dortmund, Rulani To Meet Pep

December 6, 2024

It’s been a long wait, but PSL giants Mamelodi Sundowns finally know who they will be facing in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Sundowns were in pot four ahead of the draw, which was held in Miami, USA, where the competition will be played from June 15 to July 13. It’s the first Club World Cup under the expanded format of 32 clubs and Sundowns will get to test themselves against the biggest clubs in the world, while players have an opportunity to impress scouts.

The draw was held on Thursday evening, with Sundowns being drawn into Group F against Fluminense of Brazil, German giants Borussia Dortmund and Ulsan HD of Korea Republic.

Sundowns, who qualified for the competition by reaching the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League last season, will kickstart their Club World Cup campaign against Ulsan.

The other African representatives in the competition are Al Ahly, Wydad Casablanca and Esperance. Ahly, who face Orlando Pirates in the CAF Champions League this weekend, are in Group A with Brazilian club Palmeiras, former European champions FC Porto and Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, who have qualified for the tournament as hosts.
