Besiktas fans abuse new signings Jurasek and Arroyo after Europa League loss to Shakhtar Donetsk

July 30, 2025

Turkish club Besiktas has come out in support of David Jurasek and Keny Arroyo after a barrage of abuse on social media.

Ultras of the Turkish club heaped insults on Jurasek and Arroyo after Besiktas lost 4:2 to Shakhtar Donetsk in the second qualifying round of the Europa League.

Fans accused the pair of playing very poorly against the Ukrainian club. Jurasek, a left back who has been capped by the Czech Republic, joined Besiktas this summer. Arroyo, an Ecuadorian winger, joined Besiktas earlier this year and has played 11 times for the club.

Following the Besiktas supporter comments, many of whom were identified as being under 18, Jurasek and Arroyo closed their social media accounts.

Before closing his profile on Instagram, Arroyo deleted all his photos with a Beskitas’ shirt.

In response Beşiktaş have launched a digital campaign titled ‘No to digital bullying’.

Before Besiktas’ training session on Tuesday, the players sent a clear message, declaring their support for new signings Jurasek and Keny Arroyo.
