Bayern Munich’s Max Eberl convinced Uli Hoeneß to pass on Hansi Flick and let him pursue Vincent Kompany
The new guy is playing a hunch!.
According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Uli Hoeneß was (surprisingly) a proponent of bringing Hansi Flick back to Bayern Munich, but was talked down on that stance by Max Eberl, who preferred to follow his hunch with Burnley coach Vincent Kompany:
Bayern’s big bosses, including Uli Hoeneß, were still in favour of appointing Hansi Flick in the past few days. But Max Eberl said ‘no, trust me, I see something in Vincent Kompany’ – Eberl insisted on Kompany and ultimately prevailed internally.
Hoeneß, who was a #TeamBrazzo man, back in the war between Flick, who was the coach, and sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidžić seems to have moved on from any ill-will he might once have had toward Flick.
Speaking of Flick, his coaching staff at FC Barcelona is starting to take shape as well per Plettenberg:
