Bayern Munich stance on Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes revealed amid £87million asking price

February 20, 2026

In Friday’s Euro Transfer News round-up, Julian Alvarez reportedly wants to move to Barcelona and Bayern Munich’s transfer stance on Bruno Fernandes is revealed. That is not all though. Reports suggest Norwich striker Josh Sargent is on the verge of joining Major League Soccer side Toronto and Barca look set to strengthen the release clauses included in the contracts of their best young players.

Manchester United may look to sell Bruno Fernandes this summer as part of a midfield rebuild, but Bayern Munich are unlikely to make a move for the Portuguese talisman.

According to Caughtoffside, the 31-year-old could be offloaded in order to reinvest in the squad. Manuel Ugarte could also be sold, while Casemiro has already confirmed he will be leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Bayern have been linked with a move for Fernandes in the past, and the Bavarians are set to lose midfielder Leon Goretzka on a free transfer in the summer when his contract expires.

CFBayernInsider claim the player’s high wages mean he is not yet being considered by Vincent Kompany, however, with United’s reported £87 million asking price contributing to the Bundesliga champions cooling their interest.

Were Fernandes to arrive at the Allianz Arena, his preferred No. 10 role may also impact on the development of wonderkid Lennart Karl, who has impressed during his breakthrough season under Kompany.

The report reads: “Last summer, Fernandes was linked with moves to clubs in the Saudi Pro League, but he decided to remain in the Premier League.

“The 20-time Premier League champions are looking to bolster their midfield next summer, and they have been linked with several players already.

“Ideally, Man Utd [would] love to keep him at the club, but they also realise that this is their best chance to cash in on the 31-year-old midfielder.”
