Barcelona set new deadline to sign Nico Williams
Earlier this week, it was reported that Barcelona are losing hope of signing Nico Williams this summer. Club bosses have yet to receive an answer from the 22-year-old, whom they expect to remain at Athletic Club for at least a further 12 months. However, they have not lost all hope yet.
The operation to sign Williams is currently on standby, which is why Barcelona have advanced their interest in Dani Olmo. They will continue to pursue a deal with RB Leipzig, while waiting on an answer from his Spain teammate.
As per Cadena SER, Barcelona will wait on Williams until the 12th of August – the date that the Euro 2024 winner is projected to return to Athletic training. If no affirmative response is received before or on this date, they will officially end their interest – for 2024 at least.
Barcelona have communicated to Williams that they can afford to sign and register him, in an effort to dispel any doubts that he could have. For now, it continues to be a waiting game.
