Barcelona keeping close tabs on €60 million-rated Brazilian right-back – report

March 22, 2023

FC Barcelona are reportedly considering Brazilian defender Vanderson de Oliveira Campos as they seek to add a top-level right-back to their squad in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old, who currently plays for AS Monaco, has been on Barcelona’s radar for some time now. Last August, the Catalan club made an initial attempt to sign the ex-Gremio player, but Monaco demanded a staggering €60 million transfer fee, which was deemed too high by Barcelona.

However, Vanderson’s impressive performances this season have reignited La Blaugrana’s interest in him. The club’s technical staff has been monitoring the young Brazilian closely, and they believe he fits the “Barca profile” perfectly. The defender is a physically powerful player with great speed and technical ability, and he is also known for his attacking prowess and defensive stability.

According to recent reports from SPORT, Barcelona’s technical staff is expected to meet with the player’s representatives in the coming days to discuss a potential move. The club’s approach will be the same as with other candidates they are considering: to negotiate a salary agreement and determine a transfer strategy, taking into account the limitations of Financial Fair Play regulations.

However, Barcelona are keeping close tabs on several candidates to reinforce the right-back position. Other right-back options that the Catalan club is reportedly considering include João Cancelo, Juan Foyth, Benjamin Pavard, and Thomas Meunier. All of these players are highly talented and have impressive track records.

It remains to be seen who will end up donning the Barcelona shirt next season, but one thing is certain: the Catalan club is determined to strengthen their squad and compete at the highest level.
